Sparklers' History
Sparkler's Magical Journey
In 1998, Charlie established a unique jewelry venture in Singapore called Sparklers’. Dealing in colour gemstones and jewelry, he participated in local fairs and private events offering quality gemstones, handmade rings, earrings and pendants in gold and platinum.
Spurred by supportive clients, Charlie’s creativity was ignited and he started crafting a collection of jewelry inspired by his life moments.
Sparklers' at Wisma Atria (1999-2002)
The following year, Charlie opened his first Sparklers’ retail boutique at Wisma Atria which exclusively retailed Charlie’s limited edition, individually crafted and uniquely inspired jewelry. Bestowed with a showroom, he began designing custom made jewelry tailored to his clients’ imagination featuring a variety of colour gemstones including rubies, sapphires, tourmalines, morganites, emeralds, diamonds, peridots and much more.
Transforming his passion for colours using a combination of colour gemstones delicately mounted on imaginative settings, Charlie soon developed jewelry with his very own signature style.
Four years later, Sparklers' embarked on its next phase of growth and relocated to a bigger shop space at Raffles Substation. Sited beside Raffles Hotel, the building's colonial-era past inspired a new set of artistic designs including an animal-themed jewelry collection and nature-themed rings and brooches with sizeable gemstones. During this time, Charlie's designs notably became bolder and more expressive, especially when he started to incorporate the technique of enamelling into his designs.
However, due to the time-consuming nature and meticulous craftsmanship involved in achieving the desired colours and finishings for each piece, only a small number of enamelled jewelry set with diamonds and colour gemstones were produced.
Sparklers' at Pickering Street (2007-2018)
In 2007, Sparklers' took a big step and moved to its current premises at 3 Pickering Street. Located between Singapore's historic Chinatown and vibrant financial district, its new showroom in a conservation shophouse added considerable charm to Charlie's latest creations. Subtle yet uniquely simple designs became the hallmark for a new range of rings, earrings and pendants adorned with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and pearls.
For loyal and potential clients wanting original and one of a kind jewelry, Charlie created a special line of jewelry with hand engraved designs.
Sparklers at Raffles Station (2002-2007)
Charlie's Jewel at International Plaza (Nov 2018 - Present)
2018 opens up a new chapter to the Sparklers' journey. Sparklers' has relocated closer to the central business district at International Plaza. At the same time, Charlie has revamped and rebranded the business to ‘Charlie’s Jewel’ to better reflect the business and its Mission. Relocating to International Plaza will allow Charlie to better serve his clients and better focus on his creative direction. In order to signify this turning point, creations created hence forth will bear the trade mark Charlie's Jewel.
